I was able to remotely use Rotatrix, using Parsec for remote desktop and VirtualHere for USB forwarding. The free Parsec and VirtualHere trial version both work fine.
My local client (with Rotatrix connected): macOS with Parsec as client, and VirtualHere USB Server to share it
My remote server: Windows 11 with Parsec server and VirtualHere client
- Monitor must be plugged in and on for parsec to work
- I had to turn on “Mouse Trails” accessibility feature in order to show the remote cursor. Shortest length trail works fine
- Open the VirtualHere USB Client and choose to use the Rotatrix Trackball. This redirects it over the network, as if directly attached to the machine
It works well over the internet using a personal VPN for both machines (Tailscale, makes the machines appear local to each other).
It didn’t work with Windows app as RDP client, because it doesn’t show the remote machine’s directly-attached mouse.
